Boy’s Swim Headed to State This Weekend

By: Kayler Smith

The Boy’s Swim team hopes to have a successful state trip after finishing third overall in last year’s state meet. LSN will be competing in over 10 events in the preliminary races this Thursday.

In last years finals, the boys placed in 11 events and won four events outright. They are taking several of the same swimmers as last year as well as returning with their defending state champion 200 yard medley relay squad.

Grant Godard, senior, who placed fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke, will return to swim in the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard breaststroke.

Daniel Worth, sophomore, 2017 champion of the 100 yard breaststroke, will return with the hopes to defend his title in the 100 yard breaststroke, and place higher in the 200 yard individual medley, which he placed eighth in last year.

The team has added a few more key point-scorers. JP Hynes, senior, qualified in the 50 yard freestyle as well as the 200 yard freestyle. Junior Andrew Bennett will also swim the 50 yard freestyle. Jonah Murray, Grant Idoux and Alder Harding will help the team hopefully to victory.

The state meet will take place in St. Louis at the St. Peter’s Rec-Plex, with preliminaries Thursday, and finals Friday.
