The Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in Lee’s Summit is holding an annual prom boutique that lasts for 4 days. Almost 3,500 almost new dresses are available for girls to try on. Sizes range from 0 to 28 and all dresses are free. The reason for this boutique to provide prom dresses for those who do not have the resources in order to afford an outfit for prom, although there is no income test nor needs test in order to receive a dress.
“The Prom Boutique is a good idea for the community because it gives girls who can’t afford dresses and provides a cheaper alternative to other girls,” Jessica Carnnahan, junior, said.
Private dressing rooms are provided for girls to try on dresses, and after one has picked out their dress, seamstresses are around to ensure the dress is a perfect fit. After this, the dresses are steamed, bagged, and given to the girl. Jewelry and shoes are also available for girls to choose from.
This boutique is open from Wednesday till Friday at 3-7 and Saturday at 9-2. Be sure to stop by and take advantage of this rare opportunity.
