The Grammys are well known as one of music’s biggest night, but viewers and nominees alike were disappointed on Sunday when after sitting through the three and a half hour show. The broadcast consisted mostly of performances by people like, Kendrick Lamar, who kicked of the show, Miley Cyrus and Elton John, who just announced his final tour, Pink, SZA, and a heart wrenching performance from Kesha who sang, “Prayer”, a song off of her newest album, rainbow. Even with the incredible performances on this night it left a bit of a bad taste in your mouth. With Bruno Mars winning six awards, and being the big winner of the night, Jay Z being nominated for eight awards and walking away with zero, and Ed Sheeran who was not there to celebrate the night and accept his two new awards. The Grammys seemed to fall short this year, like something was missing. With a lack of variety in winners, there is only hope that next year they can bring the show back up to its regular standards.
