Elon Musk tweeted on January 27 that his company, The Boring Company, would be selling flamethrowers to fight the zombie apocalypse. The Boring Company is an infrastructure and tunneling company founded by Elon Musk in late 2016. This is an outlandish claim, but he promised in December of 2017 that if his company, The Boring Company, sold 50,000 limited edition baseball caps then it would start selling flamethrowers. He tweeted it out and put it up on his website and by January 29 he had already racked up 10,000 pre-orders for flamethrowers.
“ATF [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] says any flamethrower with a flame shorter than 10ft is A-ok. Our design is max fun for least danger. I’d be way more scared of a steak knife,” said Elon Musk for Twitter, founder of The Boring Company.
Musk claims that these high-tech flamethrowers are safe and will liven up any party, but the selling of these weapons has caused some to ask the legality of selling such weapons over the internet. However, in the United States it is still legal to purchase a flamethrower off the internet. Most states do not have any laws preventing it, although California is now pursuing to ban the purchase of it.
