On Saturday, January 20, 2018 the shutdown of the U.S. Federal Government began. This shutdown happened because the government failed to pass funding for their operations and agencies.
According to CNN.com Senator Mitch McConnell said, “I respect the passion that many of my friends in this chamber, Democrat and Republican alike bring these major issues before the senate, all of them.”
60 hours after the three day shutdown many people started to vote on reopening the government, this brought President Trump to a very hard decision. Both parties expressed their views on the deal.
After president Trump signed the spending bill, the shutdown of the U.S. Federal Government ended January 22, 2018 at 11:41 p.m.
