Traffic Improvements: The New Construction on Tudor

By Danielle Zammar

As all LSN students and teachers have experienced, the route to and from school during the week can be quite troublesome. With Tudor Road only having two lanes, which does not include a turning lane to enter into North or to the offices across the street, traffic has been backed up all the way to the Summit Ridge apartments before with teenagers who are rushing and growing impatient while trying to avoid getting a tardy and with other drivers rushing to get to work. Accidents have even occurred because of this situation and the blind spots that are caused by all of the traffic. The City of Lee’s Summit plans to fix this problem by the construction that has just begun in order to add a turning lane along the south side of Tudor, from Douglas to Woodbury Lane. This lane will significantly improve turning movements. Students express how the construction is currently affecting them and their route to school.

“I think that construction right now is causing more traffic and more time for people to enter and get out of North but it will be beneficial in the end,” Desirea Cervantes, senior, said.

The addition of a turning lane is projected to be complete by August of this year.
