The Lee’s Summit R-7 school district is rare when it comes to our late start Wednesday where we start an hour later. However, I believe that school should start late every day. Coming from an IB diploma candidate with a zero hour, I would enjoy starting an hour later. My zero hour would then be at 7:30 a.m. instead of the 6:30 a.m., I endured today.
“It would be better if school started an hour later so I could get my full hours of sleep necessary for survival and it would benefit me academically,” Sara Mullins, junior and IB diploma candidate, said.
Not only do students prefer a later start to school, but a study from Oxford University states that the brain starts fully working after 10 a.m.. Not saying we should start at 10 a.m., but an hour late than usual would be a great start.
